How often do I get a Utlility bill?

Bills are issued on or about the 6th of each month and are due on the 16th of the same month.

Will I get penalized if I pay late?

A 2% penalty is charged on any payments made after the due date.
A 3.9% penalty is levied on arrears past 30 days.
Payments made at the bank, banking machine or through telephone banking are credited to the customer’s accounts on the date that the funds are deposited into the Town’s bank account.
Please pay early enough to allow time for the payment to reach the Town’s bank account.

What do the charges on my bill mean?

Metered Water – water usaged is charged at $1.50/cubic meter

Water IRF – Water Infrastructure Fee of $11.52

WMRF – Water Meter Replacement Fee of $5.00

Sewer – Flat residential basic charge $19.65/month

Sewer IRF – Sewer Infrastructure Fee of $9.75

Metered Gas – Gas Usage from SKNGS- rate changes as per GasAlberta with administration/delivery charge of $1.38/monthly.

Gas Meter S/C – Monthly Gas Meter Maintenance Charge of $16.00

GST - gst on gas.

What if I have extra Garbage?

You are able to purchase extra garbage tags at the Town of Sedgewick Office for $1.00/bag.
Town residents are responsible for disposing of any additional garbage to the Transfer site. (located east of Town along TWP Road 422)

A $3.00 tipping fee will be charged on site. There are restrictions as to what can be taken to the Transfer site. Check Waste Management.

What kind of container can I use?

Garbage MUST be bagged and tied and be in containers and placed at the curb for collection prior to 7:30 am every Thursday.

Does Sedgewick have a Recycling Centre?

Recycling bins are located on the East side of the Rec Centre at 5301 – 51 Ave.
3 - cardboard bins
1 - all types of plastic bin
1 - all types of paper bin.

Also there are 2 Yard waste bin (grass clipping, leaves) on the west side of the Golf Course. (no Branches please)

Are there hook-up charges?

The Town of Sedgewick currently does not charge any hook-up fees. There are reconnect fees if you request vacation turnoffs or if shuttoff for non payment.

Did you know that you can set up a budget payments for your Utility bill? Your budget utility payment can be made with post-dated cheques or through online banking. This program starts in May to build up a credit on your account to be used in the winter month to offset the higher bills.

Call the Town Office 780 384 3504 to arrange for monthly budget payments.

There are several methods of payments for your Utility bill

Online from you bank: i.e. CIBC, Scotia bank, Alberta Treasury Branch, Battle River Credit Union, Bank of Montreal, TelPay

By Mail : cheque (please enclose the tear off section of your bill)

Or in person – cash, cheque.
