Bylaw 380/95 (III) states that if you plan to operate an off-highway vehicle within the town limits, you MUST obtain an annual permit for a fee of $10.00 per year. Any operator of an O.H.V. MUST have a valid driver’s license ~ if the operator has a learner’s license the operator MUST be accompanied by an licensed adult over the age of 18. Any operator shall produce valid liability insurance prior to obtaining a permit. Any O.H.V. operated in the town limits must follow a specifically designated route which provides you with the most direct route out of town and will be outlined at the time of permit issuance. Maximum speed shall be 25 km. An operator shall not create or cause the emission of loud or unnecessary noise from the OHV Any driver, operator or owner of an OHV creating loss or damage to property may be charged to make full restitution. This includes Town Owned Property. No OHV shall operate on public property within the limits of the Town, including golf course (except golf carts); ball diamonds; school grounds and town owned lots. (This includes the eastern edge of the town limits where the nature trail has been destroyed by OHV). It is the responsibility of the owner, operator or driver of the OHV to produce a legitimate permit issued by the Town if stopped by the RCMP or town employees. Any driver, operator or owner of an OHV caught in contravention of this bylaw shall be fined as per the bylaw. . |
