Sanitary Landfill

Located 1.5 km east on Twp 422 and north 8 km on RR 122

The following has been passed by the Flagstaff Waste Management Board.

Fees charged dependent on load ~ Freon charges apply to appliances

Please note that as of July 1, 2008, waste of a nature that would create litter will only be accepted if bagged, or placed in Blue Compactor Bins.

As of February 2009 all Cardboard MUST be taken to the Recycling Bins behind the Town Shop 4813 - 48 Ave.(beside Trax Registry)
Any Cardboard left out for pickup will be left behind.

As of June 2009, the Transfer Site will no longer accept construction materials (concrete, shingles etc). These items MUST be taken to the Landfill. Wood will still be accepted at the transfer site**

**No burning will be done at the transfer site if there is a burn ban in place. Wood will not be accepted during a fire ban and must be taken to the Landfill site.

The Board also advises that insecure loads are illegal and local police forces have been asked to enforce that law; to keep waste out of our roadside ditches.

Transfer Site Hours

(Residential Service only) Located 1 km east of town on TWP 442

Summer Hours - April 1 - Oct. 31

1:00 - 6:30pm ~ Monday

9:00am - 6:30pm ~Thursday

Winter Hours - Nov. 1 - Mar 31

1:00 - 4:00pm ~ Monday

8:30am - 4:00pm ~ Thursday

A $3:00 Tipping fee (as of Jan 1, 2009) per load will be charged at the time of arrival.

Appliances are subject to a $3.00/appliance charge plus $15.00 Freon charge

Demolition materials will not be accepted at the Transfer site, but must be hauled to the Sanitary Landfill site.

FLAGSTAFF REGIONAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

RESIDENTIAL COLLECTION REGULATIONS

1. Access to refuse containers must be free of snow and other debris.
2. Garbage must be placed in a proper container no more than 20 feet from the laneway.
3. Refuse must be placed in containers prior to 7:30 am on your designated collection day.
4. Refuse storage area must not be blocked with cars, trailers, etc.
5. Ashes of any kind will not be picked up due to danger of fire.
6. All animal waste and kitty litter must be double-bagged and sealed.
7. Shrubs and tree limbs must be tied in bundles, not longer than 3 feet.
8. Our residential collection truck will collect a limit of 5 bags of refuse per week. The maximum weight of each bag must not exceed 44 pounds (20 kilograms). Extra bag tags can be purchased at the Town Office for $1.00/bag.
9. Loose waste in garbage receptacles will not be picked up. (All loose refuse must be bagged.) Assist in keeping your town litter free.
10. Collection is made between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm on Thursdays.
